*Not at all live...

"Listen, they found a lump in your mother's breast a few weeks back..."

I'm sorry...what?

"But she had a biopsy, and it just came back benign."

What do you say to that?

You say..."Ok, good."

Because there's not much else to say in that situation.

"Did they let her keep it?" comes to mind, though highly inappropriate.

That wasn't how I wanted the conversation with my my Father to go today, but there I was, in the middle of the busiest mall in Central Florida, hearing that as I walked by those miniature torture chambers cleverly disguised as water-powered massage tables.

Cancer isn't something I'm used to. I've not been around it, I don't know about it, other than some rudimentary knowledge from my Bioethics classes.

The one thing I do know, is that it's never good.

A few months ago, I had a conversation like that one that didn't go quite as well.

"Your Grandmother has cancer."

Ok, so it wasn't quite as "All My Children" as that, but that's all I heard.

That was the first time that cancer had really hit home...I guess before, it was just the disease that other peoples families had to deal with.

Well, my maternal Grandfather died of cancer, but I must have been three...four?

Too young to really be affected by it.

To me, it was one visit...sitting in his leather recliner smoking a cigar...

Next visit, he never came back.

So now my paternal Grandmother has it.

But they went in.

And got it.

"...they hope."

That's not fair.

"They got it all...they hope."

"Your brakes are working...we think."

But as of now, both Mother and Grandmother have nothing to worry about.

And I hope it stays that way.

Heeeeey, a whole entry about cancer.

That's definitely a first for me.

On to more pleasant things...

I've been out of commission for the past few days.

And the reason?

Damn video games.

A game just came out this week called Kingdom Hearts, which I've been anticipating ever since Nick and I saw a preview for it at the Mega Toys R Us in Times Square.

It's nearly impossible to explain what it is, but it's sort of a role-playing game through all of the Disney movies.

Anyway...it's been consuming my every waking moment, as I can't put it down.

I've been pausing just long enough to bathe, eat, and go to work.

Yeah, I'm twelve.

Very twelve.

Speaking of work...I have to be there in less than an hour.

But that's....2am, isn't it?

There's some press conference at 8am, and I have people arriving at 2:30am, so I get to be there at two.

But for now, I'll leave you all with this little snippet of a conversation between Adam and I from months back, which I had meant to post long ago, but just came across tonight...

ADAM: so roy tells me it's national nude day
ADAM: in keeping with this, i'm off to storm the shower.
ME: Really? And here I was naked without a purpose.
ADAM: you're not naked
ME: I am.
ADAM: you're on the computer!
ME: Not physically.
ADAM: gosh.
ADAM: it's like being naked on the phone.
ME: Again...not physically.
ME: Because then you'd need wet-naps.
ADAM: just...yeah.

Be well...
